All people– writers and non-writers– are storytellers.  We tell ourselves stories each and every day and the stories that we tell ourselves shape our perceptions of the world in which we live.  I’ve become keenly aware of the stories I tell myself in the real world since I’ve started creating stories in a fictional world.  I also realize that I’m the only person in charge of these stories and this realization has been very empowering.  I know now that I am creating the landscape for my journey through life just as I create a world for my characters.  Of course I don’t have nearly as much control over my real world as my fictional world, but I do have enough control to decide upon my level of happiness.  All people do!  Everyone is their own storyteller.
